12.00 10 February
2000
12:00 Thursday the 10th of February, and yes there was indeed a short
burst of heavy rain as the cold front passed over. As it passed cloud
cover increased steadily 8 oktas (cloud cover is measured in oktas so
its easy to estimate by eye). 7mm of rain fell in just one hour (at 8:00
as everyone was coming into school!). As it approached, air temperature
dropped by 3 degrees centigrade as the cold air replaced the warmer air.
On the Satellite map we
can see as long band of cloud, clearly showing the position of the cold
front now passing over the North Sea. |
